Yaeger Canyon Loop Trail

A Winter Solstice Hike on the Yaeger Canyon Loop Trail was the perfect way to spend a day on Mingus Mountain. We started off with snow flurries and ended in sunshine! What more could you ask for when hiking in Northern Arizona with your buddies!

Finding the Yaeger Canyon Loop Trail will be half your battle! If it wasn’t for my FIL, I would have had no idea about this hike, but I’m sure glad he took us on it! It’s a pleasant little gem hidden in the Mingus Mountains. If you are heading towards Mingus Mountain from Prescott Valley on Highway 89A drive about a third of a mile past highway marker post 333 and you will see a pull out. Park there. The Yaeger Canyon Loop Trailhead is directly below you. You’ll be on Trail 28, Trail 111, and Trail 533 throughout the hike.

At 6.4 miles round trip, it is a great hike to practice on if you are planning a Grand Canyon backpacking trip, so load up a full pack and head on out!  We had an AEG  of 1,558 ft and reached our Highest Point at 7,248 ft.
